Hi all!
What a busy time it’s been. The website is coming together after much hard work. We now have links to our Facebook, Google Plus and Pinterest pages which we will use to hopefully help promote the restoration of beauty in the family home.
In the meantime we have decided to make a regular series of what we like to call showcase posts.
Our very first showcase is of course our large wooden crucifixes!
This beautifully distinct crucifix was crafted especially to be given as a wedding gift.
The crucifix is 800 mm high and 400 mm wide making it the perfect centrepiece for the family home.
For the wooden cross we decided upon an especially sought after wood – Wenge, sometimes also called African Rosewood. The wood is an exotic timber and comes from a legume tree native to a few parts of Africa. It is an extremely hard, durable wood mostly used to make fine musical instruments and even archery bows.
The most striking feature of Wenge is the heartwood. It is a magnificent dark brown, almost black in some places.
